GRAHAM, NC – The Southeast Propane Alliance Technical Education Center (SEPATEC) has launched a new program designed to provide comprehensive ELDT training that leads to a CDL B license while adhering to FMCSA regulations and guidelines to ensure high-quality education and preparation. The program encompasses theory training, Behind the Wheel, and testing requirements, equipping participants with the necessary skills for success in the propane industry.
“If you’re looking for an opportunity to drive a CDL truck and begin immediate employment, SEPATEC offers professional Commercial Driver’s License-B and Hazardous Material education, hands-on training, and testing that prepares students to earn a CDL-B License and HAZMAT endorsement in one week,” said John Peña, SEPATEC’s Director of Education.
SEPATEC is a renowned educational institution that provides top-tier training and education for the propane industry. By adhering to industry regulations and offering comprehensive programs, SEPATEC is the premier training center for individuals seeking to excel in the propane industry.
John Jessup, SEPA president and CEO said about the program’s launch: “The SEPATEC CDL B program is hands down the quickest and most cost-efficient way for SEPA companies to get their employees their CDL B with hazmat endorsement.”
Initially available exclusively to SEPA members and affiliates, SEPATEC plans to expand the program to a broader audience while currently focusing on providing excellent training to its current members. The program has a minimum age requirement of 21+ and accommodates a maximum of 5 participants per class per week. Administrative preparations include acquiring a Medical Examiner’s Card, a State CDL Permit, and a State Driver’s License.
David Boyd, SEPATEC Advisory Committee Chair and Manager at Payne Oil commented, “With increasing regulations, our industry members have found a lack of CDL B training and credentialing options. However, because of their vision and investment in SEPATEC, the facility and personnel infrastructure were in place to develop a program to fill that gap. We anticipate a continual high demand for this training.”
The program fee is $3,400. Individual participants must pay the full amount, while companies can arrange invoicing. The training includes Hazmat theory sessions, which are essential for the final Hazmat exam at the DMV as mandated by the federal government. Training sessions run from Monday to Sunday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., except on weeks that contain federal holidays. Participants will receive instruction in CDL-B Driver’s Theory, Pre-Trip/Post-Trip Inspections, and practical skills such as backup maneuvers, alley docking, and a road course.
