In the aftermath of the devastation wrought by the historic 2024 hurricane season, propane marketers around the country are mobilizing to provide relief and help communities get back on their feet. Here a just a few examples from Hurricane Helene:
Blossman Gas, despite the difficulty in accessing retail locations in affected areas and some employees losing their homes, was able to put 36 propane autogas-fueled trucks into service one day after Helene struck in North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Georgia. Their planning and mobilization allowed them to support local, state, and federal agencies responding to the disaster.
Paraco Gas deployed 10 tractor trailers from Waterbury, CT, to deliver propane tanks to 21 critical locations across North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. By the end of the operation, the company delivered over 14,000 propane tanks.
Foster Fuels (Brookneal, VA) activated more than 150 trucks and 200 personnel and delivered 500,000 gallons of propane to hard-hit areas.
The Southeast Propane Alliance’s technical team (SEPATEC), with support from Rinnai, Gardner Marsh, and LG Jordan Oil & Gas, designed and assembled a portable hot water shower system capable of supplying water for laundry and eight shower units. The unit was assembled at Blossman’s staging area in Asheville for use by the community.
