SEPATEC’s program provided Folger Gas employees with focused education and training, culminating in certification for ten employees in CETP 4.1 (Designing and Installing Vapor Distribution Systems) and CETP 4.2 (Placing Vapor Distribution Systems and Appliances into Operation).
GRAHAM, NC — Folger Gas, LLC recently hosted on-site training for ten employees at their Hiawassee, Georgia branch. The training included a diverse group of employees, from new hires to experienced staff with three-plus years of experience. The program, led by SEPATEC staff members Ken Melton, Bob Moore, and John Peña, provided valuable insights and offered mobility and convenience tailored to the needs of the propane industry.
The instructors’ on-site training model is a game-changer compared to the traditional approach of sending employees to a training facility in North Carolina for ten days. The instructors arrived fully prepared with training materials, including books, laptops, and a training trailer, eliminating the need for employees to travel. This unique approach utilized Folger Gas’ space for classroom and hands-on training, along with essential equipment, providing real-world, hands-on training using resources that employees use daily.
SEPATEC’s Director of Education, John Peña, stated, “It is a significant cost savings for our members when you compare the expense of sending one trainer to train five to ten employees at each class site versus sending the same number of employees to North Carolina considering the expenses associated with travel and lodging. We take pride in offering our members high-quality custom on-site training, which not only saves them money but also provides great benefits.”
The instructors taught CETP 4.1, which covers the design and installation of vapor distribution systems, and CETP 4.2, which focuses on the placement of vapor distribution systems and appliances into operation. They also conducted on-site assessments to evaluate the practical knowledge acquired by each employee. This hands-on approach increased employee engagement, resulting in a deeper understanding and confidence among the staff.
