Recently Paula Wilson retired from her role as Director of Industry Engagement at the Propane Education & Research Council (PERC). She had served in this role for nearly eight years after 32 years at AmeriGas where she was Director of Marketing. Wilson was the first woman to serve as Chairman of PERC, a volunteer leadership role while she was at AmeriGas, before later joining the PERC staff. During her years at AmeriGas, she was well-known in the industry for her many years of volunteer service both in roles with the National Propane Gas Association (NPGA) as well as PERC.
Wilson shared a few thoughts on LinkedIn just prior to her last day of work:
“I hope the days come easy and the moments pass slow, and each road leads me to where I want to go~
It’s very hard to believe that tomorrow is my last day of working 8 to 5 in the propane industry. I came across this photo a few weeks ago that highlights one of many memorable moments and mentors in my journey and incredible ride over 40 years.
As I reflect on my career of 32 years at AmeriGas, I cannot help but feel grateful and fortunate for the amazing experiences and fun times I had with everyone in Valley Forge and everyone “in the field” across the country. We had incredibly passionate teams of people in the regions and markets that grew the organization from 32 locations to over 1200 through acquisitions, innovation, hard work and super sales and marketing teams 😍.
My 25 plus years of volunteering on NPGA committees and PERC committees and serving on the PERC Council were “exceptional”. It may be a small industry, but these organizations accomplish big things! And how lucky am I to finish out my career as a member of the Propane Education and Research Council team for the past 7 years. It’s been energizing and fun, making it a very difficult decision to start a new chapter.
I want to thank my many, many wonderful friends and colleagues, but LinkedIn limit doesn’t allow me. So many of you have made an impact on my life, whether it be in a single meeting, years of working together, or sharing a fabulous meal and fine wine. And many will be lifelong friends…how cool is that?!
This is not goodbye! XO”
