Recently, Lettermen’s Energy recognized Allan Degenhardt, Vice President of Supply & Risk Management, for his leadership of a commmunity program he started in the Kansas City area providing handwarmers to the homeless. This year, Degenhardt’s efforts have led to the distribution of an organization record level of 15,000 handwarmers distributed!

Allan and his daughter started H4H in 2014 with a simple but powerful goal: to provide warmth and hope to the homeless community in Kansas City during the frigid Midwestern winters. What began as a small effort—distributing 2,000-3,000 handwarmers that first year—has grown into a vital outreach, now supplying handwarmers and other essentials to organizations like Uplift, Taking it to the Streets, and the Salvation Army.
The impact of this initiative is life-changing. Handwarmers may seem like a small gesture, but for someone facing freezing temperatures without shelter, they can mean the difference between life and death. With a steadfast commitment, H4H has distributed nearly 10,000 handwarmers annually for the past several years.
Allan’s work embodies compassion, faith, and the belief that every act of kindness—no matter how small—can spark hope.
