On August 26, 2025, Rep. Jefferson Shreve visited Keystone Cooperative in Shelbyville, IN. The Congressman learned about propane’s vital role in his congressional district. Industry personnel emphasized the versatility and significant impact of propane in Southern Indiana, citing its reliability, resilience, and environmental benefits. Mike Hayden from Keystone Cooperative highlighted how propane supports various residential, agricultural, and commercial applications. The Congressman is a member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, and Mr. Hayden highlighted how autogas and propane school buses are a clean alternative to other fuel sources.
During the visit, Rep. Shreve toured the facility and discussed propane’s low carbon emissions and the opportunities to grow the renewable propane marketplace. Mr. Hayden asked the Congressman to support the LIHEAP program and the federal workforce administering it. LIHEAP is vital for many Hoosiers. Mr. Hayden also asked the Congressman and his staff to co-sponsor the Energy Choice Act, which prevents state and local governments from imposing bans on propane and natural gas.
