The National Propane Gas Association posthumously honored the late John W. Brooks III at its June Meeting with its State Director of the Year Award. NPGA Chair Michelle Bimson’s remarks follow:
The late John W. Brooks III personified all that was good about the propane community. He was a man devoted to his faith, his family, his customers and his country.
Johnny served in every available capacity for the Missouri Propane Gas Association and Missouri’s PERC. At the time of his passing, he had recently returned from the NPGA Board meeting in Arizona where he had accepted the nomination to serve his 17th year as Missouri’s NPGA State Director. He took that role seriously, a two-way assignment that required reporting national developments at state meetings and relating state concerns back to the national board.

Johnny Brooks was part of a remarkable family propane operation, now in its fourth generation. Over the years, Brooks Gas has become more than just a familiar local fuel supplier. Thanks to its local involvement and the passion of the Brooks family, the company is regarded today as a dependable community institution and partner for so many homes and businesses. Johnny’s brother, Joe Brooks, continues the family tradition along with Johnny’s son Will and Joe’s son, Brian Brooks, who is here to accept this much-deserved recognition.
Brian, on behalf of the Board of Directors of the National Propane Gas Association, and with our heartfelt respect and condolences, please accept NPGA’s State Director of the Year Award on behalf of your late uncle, John W. Brooks.
More details including additional Award Winners from the Washington DC Meeting and Propane Days will be shared in future issues in June.
