warm thoughts

NPGA successfully led a broad coalition in opposing the EPA’s 2023 proposal to remove the ENERGY STAR label for gas fueled furnaces. With pressure from NPGA and its partners, on April 16, EPA reversed their plan to sunset the ENERGY STAR label for gas fueled furnaces, and announced a proposed plan to increase the efficiency level of the ENERGY STAR certification for residential furnaces instead. The EPA reversal also preserves propane furnace eligibility for ENERGY STAR designation.

NPGA will be seeking to engage our coalition again, and will be commenting on the proposal in advance of the May 16, 2024 deadline. For questions or concerns, please contact VP Regulatory & Industry Affairs Benjamin Nussdorf at bnussdorf@npga.org.
