From the National Propane Gas Association Bobtail

On May 16, 2024, President Biden signed H.R. 3935, the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2024, into law. The law funds the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) through September 30, 2028, along with $105 billion in funding for the FAA.

NPGA worked with Congress to preserve propane’s inclusion and eligibility for two programs as a part of FAA reauthorization: the Voluntary Airport Low-Emissions (VALE) Program and the Electric Supply, Redundancy, and Microgrid Program. These programs provide financing to airports in order to purchase alternative fuel vehicles and propane-powered generators, respectively. While the bill made minor changes to both VALE and Microgrid programs, the changes did not exclude propane from these programs. As airports around the country look for ways to decarbonize their operations and fortify their power generation capabilities, propane will remain an excellent alternative to diesel- and gasoline-powered vehicles and generators for the foreseeable future.
